Mac or PC?

"Should I get a Mac or PC?"
It is the question that never dies. You'll here biased answers from both sides. The Apple-lovers will tell you to buy a Mac because it doesn't get viruses and lasts longer than any PC you can buy. The Apple-haters will tell you that you are wasting money by paying twice the price for half the hardware. I'm here to provide a (hopefully) unbiased opinion, specially tailored for your college laptop needs. :)
Here are 8 reasons you should/shouldn't buy a Mac:
- You are a graphic design, art, theatre, or communications major.
- You are not a computer science, engineering, architecture, or any other major which highly depends on windows software as a standard.
- You have a high budget, and don't mind paying over $1000 for a computer.
- You don't feel like dealing with virus protection software or run the risk of getting viruses. (with very few exceptions)
- You are not a hard-core gamer who plays top-of-the-line games.
- You want to look especially cool (and cliché) while writing your essay and sipping your latte in the library café.
- Your college uses Apple products as their standard. (check this out on their website or by calling)
- You are a graphic design, art, theatre, or communications major. (no, this isn't a typo)
Basically, if you are a graphic design, art, theatre, or communications major, you really should spend the extra money and buy a Mac for college. Why? Because your industry is turning into Mac users, and if you want to submit your resume to any companies using Apple products, having the experience to put on your resume is priceless. Why should you not choose a Mac if you are a computer science, engineering, or architecture major? For the exact opposite reason: most of the software you will be required to use only runs on Windows. Otherwise, it is really a matter of preference. English majors, for example, can get by on either a PC or Mac. If you aren't any of the above majors, just choose what you are comfortable with, and what is within your price range.
